They didn't let the negativity get to them and they expanded the prequels with Clone Wars against all odds. This isn't the first time this happens, though. The only prequel centric shows are Andor and The Bad Batch and The High Republic is solely a publishing deal and there are no movies planned for it save for The Acolyte. The Mandalorian, Rangers of the New Republic and Ahsoka are set between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens and those are the three biggest projects they have, John Favreau himself said that he plans to use those shows to expand upon the formation of the First Order and it shows in The Mandalorian for those more eagle-eyed fans.
